Bear, Hunter, Ninja...variation on
Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Have students pair up and stand back
to back. When you yell "Go!"
teenagers jump away, spin, and
become a bear(claws out, growling), a
hunter (hold an invisible rifle and yell,
"Bang!"), or a ninja (Karate-chop
motion and yell, "Hi-ya!"). Bear beats
ninja, ninja beats hunter, and hunter
beats bear. The loser sits down and
kids pair up with someone new for a
new round. Last bear/hunter/ninja
standing is declared the winner.
Mitten game
You'll need one pair of mittens-not gloves,
but mittens-for each of the two teams
Get a number of boxes of differing sizes
that can fit inside each other. Then
starting with the smallest box, wrap each
box and place it inside the next larger box.
Wrap that one, put it in the next larger box,
and so on. You'll need two sets of these
nested boxes.
Form two teams-boys only and girls
only-and form two lines. Have the first two
teenagers, one on each team, put on the
mittens and roll two dice-if it's not doubles,
that person moves to the back of the line
and transfers the mittens to the next
person in line. That next person then rolls
the dice. When someone does roll
doubles, he or she runs across the room
and attempts to open the outermost
package while wearing the mittens. Once
he or she does open it, they run to the
back of the line and the next person tries to
roll doubles. the game ends when one of
the groups opens the innermost package.
You could have it full of candy for the team
to share.
